All In or Nothing: The Woman Who Risks, Wins

This post is for the daring woman
The one not afraid to follow her heart
Or do it even if everyone else is saying it’s a “bad idea”
For the woman who never felt understood until she flipped the script
For the entrepreneur who knew there was money in the idea that everyone said sucked

This post is for you

It’s 5:58pm on a Tuesday evening as I write this. My coffee is almost empty - yes - I ordered a second one, stop shaking your head at me. It’s boring outside.

As usual. February in Alaska is the worst month.

It’s still dark
But getting lighter
But not light enough yet
And there’s not much snowfall

And so I sit here, writing to you, having just wrapped up a Day of Design.

Because you’re going to NEED the context of what a Day of Design is in this post (trust, it’s very relevant), I’m going to tell you exactly what it is. In one sentence. Ready?

Whatever I can design in 5 hours.

That’s it.

Now, initially, this idea started off with a nudge to pay attention because I was feeling unfulfilled. At the time of this idea - late spring / early summer of last year, I was focusing solely on quizzes.

Honestly, it was fun. At first it really lit me up. And then slowly, over time, I noticed a drain on my energy; that I was feeling burnt up by the end of a project; that I was starting to resent the work.

It was all very same-same, which is genuinely to be expected when it comes to quizzes when you’re working with many women who offer very similar products and services. I understood that. So I pushed through.

Buuuut… slowly, surely, an idea started to form in my head.

If I was able to do all of this in one day: the quiz content from 10 questions to 10 answers and the logic and the tech and the design AND the installation…

What could I do if I was only focused on design?

The answer came to me slowly.

When I was really young, we used to watch this short called “The Enchanted Square” from 1947. A lovely little cartoon about a blind girl who has a doll (Raggedy Ann) and wants to know what she looks like. It shows darkness, and begins describing what Raggedy Ann looks like and the girl starts to come up with a picture in her head.

That’s how it felt when I started to envision the Day of Design. Initially it was “a VIP day. Whatever I can do.”

Then it was “branding in a day”. (That crashed and burned because it’s VERY difficult to do branding in a single day.)

Then it was a website in a day…

Then eventually, finally, it was “Day of Design” - 5 hours of graphics for powerhouse coaches who really need promotable graphics YESTERDAY.

I followed my heart.

I launched it at a laughably low price.

Then raised it. Month after month after month.

In February of 2025, it’s sitting at $1250.

But I didn’t listen to everyone telling me to START there, and I started it low because it felt right. And that’s what you and I have to do: we have to listen to our hearts and our souls to do the things that really freaking light us up. And more than that: the things that feel ethically right to our unique set of values.

Since November of 2024, I’ve made over $35,000 with the Day of Design method.

5 hours to design whatever I can make for you during that time.

It’s morphed into clients wanting multiple sessions. Into people wanting 6 month long retainers and beyond.

Into folks banging down my door to book it. Since November, I’ve been sold out a month in advance - at one point I was almost two months sold out.

And to add on top of everything - I only design Tuesdays and Thursdays. Rather, those are the only days available on my calendar to book, which has REALLY saved my tushy a lot.

And to speak a little bit about the spicy-brain nature of it all: the Day of Design works REALLY well with my ADHD… because I know I don’t have to DO anything except show up on a Tuesday or a Thursday.

At a certain point, I hired Lisa to manage my calendar because HELLO ya girl was running ragged trying to manage all these bookings. That’s been a HUGE weight off my shoulders (and if you’re looking for someone really reliable and consistent to work with you as an OBM / VA / even social media manager, you need to speak to her).

My current systems are:

A website (this one!) > Calendly booking link with an onboarding form > Redirects to Square checkout. That’s it! I have reminder emails set up through Calendly. It just… works.

I have been looking into Paperbell, but I haven’t made any huge moves over there because it’s through Stripe, and honestly, I don’t vibe with Stripe.

So if simple systems sound right
And you’re a woman who has an idea that’s big and feels scary
And everyone’s telling you not to do it but your gut is CONVINCED it’s the right thing
Do it

And don’t look back.

If you needed a permission slip to get rid of all those extra systems - here it is.

If you needed a GO AHEAD from a successful business owner, go ahead.

Launch the thing.

Watch the magic happen.

The woman who risks, wins.

xoxo, Alex
